If you claim to be the full-service facility partner in market research, you need to know exactly what your customers need. In this blog, Ella Roelfsema, account manager facility, explains what you need for good research on location.
A good atmosphere
Let me start with something that I am very sensitive to: the atmosphere in the room. Light, plants and flowers, fine chairs and a large table, which straight away makes our customers and respondents feel at home . At Bureau Fris we have many plants in all rooms to give this space a warm atmosphere. And if you look outside you can see water and the green of the trees!
Treats for the internal man
Of course, good catering is also very important. Different flavors of cold drinks, tea, good coffee and nice chilled water. We also always ensure that fresh fruit is present and just before the afternoon slump presents itself, we conjure up a healthy and tasty snack. A good lunch or dinner? We don’t turn our backs on that.
Whether it’s UX research or other research, a good Wi-Fi connection is indispensable, as are good microphones, tight sound and a good camera. Only in this way can we guarantee that people can properly follow what is happening in research space. You can also watch from a distance, via our live streaming service. Customers can watch anywhere in the world, in Dutch or in another language, for which we arrange a simultaneous translator. The interpreter set is always ready. Of course we record everything so that you can listen to it later on the recordings for your report.
What is of course much more fun than watching via camera and TV screen, is our one-way mirror. This is very popular with our customers, especially the international ones. It’s like sitting on the couch with the respondents, only they don’t see you.
Office supplies and other wishes
For creative sessions, we always ensure that there are enough office supplies available. Think of different sizes of stickers, post-its, flipchart sheets and a whiteboard. Even if there are other wishes, we can arrange that. For example, it was recently necessary for a survey that respondents could cut in journals. Then several colleagues placed a call in their neighborhood apps, so that we had a hefty stack of magazines without putting an extra burden on the environment. Because CO2-neutral working is a hot topic at Bureau Fris. Since 1 January 2022, we have been compensating for CO2 when renting out our spaces and at Fris To Go. Within six months we have already planted 205 trees! Respondents and employees of Bureau Fris also participate in this: they plant trees through a contribution and there are also respondents who prefer to exchange their incentive for planting a few trees!
Extra cold room
For taste tests, additional cooling space may be required. In that case, we rent an extra refrigerator, so that the customer can easily dispose of the products. Is there more needed than just cold storage? We can certainly arrange that. If necessary, we book our cooking studio here in Amsterdam-West.
Our hosts ensure that our market research runs smoothly. A good host has a flawless sense of timing. He, she or them makes everyone feel comfortable, provides something tasty at his time and makes sure that the food is ready at the right time. The host also operates the equipment and assists where needed.
If the customer wants to, we also work with live – or online – note-takers, who will go to the table in Amsterdam – or at another location – so that the customer can immediately talk to them about the transcripts.
Of course we have access to our location at Bureau Fris in Amsterdam, where everything is ready as standard. In addition, we also facilitate research elsewhere in the country with Fris To Go. For example, we recently hosted a survey in Rotterdam, including interpreter, moderator, IT professional and the right group of respondents. Of course, we facilitate online research just as easily.
